Raj Athwal, CEO of leading global sports consultancy Arena Red has been invited to speak at the UK Asian Football Championships in Glasgow this weekend.
Now in its 17th year, the championships were established by SEMSA & Glasgow Life to promote football for all and to showcase the increasing level of footballing talent within the Asian community. Clubs from all over the UK will be represented with the final hosted at Ibrox Stadium, the home of Glasgow Rangers F.C.
Raj Athwal, who is recognised as one of the most experienced and longest serving Asians in British football, is delighted to attend such a prestigious event and said “I am honoured to have been invited by the organisers to offer an insight to an industry which I have been part of for over 20 years. Having grown with the inception of the English Premiership, the industry has completely transformed into a global phenomena. However, opportunities for players from an Asian background could not be any better and I will be on hand to support them with my knowledge, experience and worldwide contacts”.
Kash Taank one of the key organisers commented “To have Raj Athwal attend & speak has added to the kudos of the event as he has worked for several top professional football clubs including the founders of the Champions League, Glasgow Rangers and boasts an in depth knowledge of the industry. The organisers are all delighted to have someone of his calibre attend. The event itself is hugely popular and teams compete regionally to have the opportunity to participate at the Championships. This is fundamentally their Champions League and we do all we can to ensure the teams and representatives have an enjoyable time”.
